Nail designs on the rise

Many artists, like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, are using a new method to display fashion with their nails.  There are countless designs out there and even websites, like Nail-Art-101.com, Pinterest and NailNerd.com that are dedicated to showing new designs and easy-to-do tutorials.

“There are so many designs out there you just want to do them all,” said junior Karen Peraza.

Nail art has become so popular that brands such as Sally Hansen have started to sell them as stickers, designed mostly for those who don’t have the time and/or technique to do designs.  They are easy to put on as you just stick them on to your nail, apply pressure and adopt the perfectly manicured look. With over 40 designs to choose from, one will not get tired of them any time soon.

Nail designs range from simple stripes to elaborate drawings.  You can even find tips on how you can use household items to do many amazing and original designs. They have even evolved to include 3-D charms like a bow or a button that can add something that will get people talking.

Other new designs are the caviar nails that are little beads that give you the look of actual caviar or the velvet nails that make your nails look fuzzy.  Many award shows like the Emmys have even included a segment called the “Mani Cam” where they get to see all of the different nail designs that actresses have.

Nail art has gained a lot of attention in the past few years and it seems to be turning into a worldwide trend that will last for a while.
