Students construct commemorative altars on Day of the Dead

A community altar by the main office honors journalist Daniel Pearl and relatives of school faculty and staff.
The hallways were lined on Tuesday with three Day of the Dead altars to remember musicians and family members who have died. A community altar was placed in the main office to honor journalist Daniel Pearl and relatives of school staff or faculty. Students in Wes Hambright’s music classes put together an altar dedicated to musicians such as Prince and Freddie Mercury. Students in Glenda Hurtado’s Spanish classes decorated an altar with marigolds, skulls and photos to remember musicians like Selena and Vicente Fernandez.
