New social media app “Ocho” lets users share their eight second video

Ocho, a new video sharing app, brings a new twist to social media.

Entrepreneurs John Swerdlin and Jourdan Urbach created the app that released on Nov. 11. The new social media app rivals another popular app, Vine. However, unlike Vine, the app is supposed to give a sense of watching TV. The creators thought of what YouTube would look like if it was reconstructed today’s times, and Ocho was born.

The company has already received a massive donation by multi-billionaire Mark Cuban and co-founder Matthew Brimer. The contribution summed up to $1.7 billion for a company that only has  15 employees.

The app is free on the Apple store for video and social media enthusiasts to have a test drive. The app includes a filter, time lapse and voice over. Instead of a replying with words on a screen, you can reply with your own face with another 8-second video. The personal profiles give a feeling of self so you can express your originality.

Some would say that this app is another knock-off from Vine but Swerdlin Urbach have made sure to stand out of the vast crowd of many different social media apps by adding a “laid-back” mode where the videos continue to play automatically like a television schedule.

Ocho is a brave new app striving for something people may of thought of but could never get out. Swerdlin and Urbach may be new to the buzzing world of social media but they’re taking it on without mercy.
