Fall television dominates with continuing seasons

By Jose Herrera:

With summer at its end and autumn’s arrival, there’s not much to do other than homework to keep up with grades. And of course tuning in to watch highly anticipated new seasons of favorite TV shows.

“Watching my favorite TV shows makes me feel relaxed,” freshman Elsie Morales said. “It helps you forget about your day and problems because you’re able to watch your shows.”

Popular TV shows such as FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” (Oct. 9), AMC’s “The Walking Dead” (Oct. 13) and ABC’s “Once Upon A Time” (Sept. 29) are a few of many returning shows that have viewers eagerly awaiting for their upcoming season.

The zombie apocalypse continues in the fourth season of the "Walking Dead." The new season, which starts Oct. 13, is filled with blood, gore and mayhem.

“‘The Walking Dead.’ I have a countdown at home,” Spanish teacher Glenda Hurtado said.  “It’s a thriller that keeps you on your toes.”

It’s not just the plot that captivates the viewers but also the actors who create a realistic environment through believable emotion.  Without the lovable actors, viewers would stop tuning in.

“Of course I am excited for my shows to return because I love seeing the actors,” junior Sara Navidad said.  “I loved the first seasons of my shows and seeing the actors return just keeps me reeled in.”

Other anticipated shows include NBC’s drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (Sept. 25) and Fox’s “Bones” (Sept. 30).

Though missing out on the latest TV shows can be a pain but being in the age of technology, it is easier to catch up. Ipods, cell phones, androids, computers and gaming consoles that use apps like Netflix, Hulu or any other transmitting app is the ideal way of watching favorite shows on demand.

“I can’t carry on the week until I get home to watch (CBS’s “Hostages”) online,” sophomore Anne Lima said.  “I love (apps), but from other people, I hear that it’s a great use when catching up on your shows or an entire season that you missed due to school.”
