The rising Latina and Filipina indie-pop band The Two Lips was formed by two best friends who started out doing it for fun and have now been doing it professionally for three years.
The members, Jewlz and Andrea, collaborate on song lyrics and melody choices. Before they formed the band, both of them were working as solo artists. Jewlz met Andrea by wanting to collaborate with her on one of her songs she was producing. Seeing how well they worked together, they became close friends and Jewlz decided they should start a band together so they wouldn’t be going back and forth on collaborating on each other’s songs.
“Two years ago, when I was making solo music, she was making solo music,” Jewlz said in an interview with Paco’s Place. “I was like, ‘Why don’t we make a song like you featuring on one of my songs?”
Since starting the band in 2023, they have both clicked together when coming up with ideas for songs. With their own influences, they mix them to create music. Having the same interests makes it easier for them to have that creative outlet. Also, since it’s a duo band, it makes it better when the pressure isn’t on one person; there’s fairness between them.
“We both gave our strengths, we’re like yin and yang,” The Two Lips said in an interview with Crucial Rhythm. “It balances out perfectly well.”
Their latest EP, “Girl, C’mon!” was released on Nov. 7, 2025, brings a pop-punk fusion and dives into the sophistication of love and friendship. “Girl, C’mon!” includes songs from previous singles they released, such as “play” and “if you said.” The songs in the EP capture the ups, downs and in between of being in your mid-twenties.
“The title is a reminder to pick yourself up,” The Two Lips said in an interview with The Portable Infinite. “To keep going, even when life feels heavy or uncertain.”
