Nintendo fans and gamers anxiously await the latest entry in the Super Smash Bros series, “Super Smash Bros Ultimate” on the Nintendo Switch to arrive on Dec. 7.

“Super Smash Bros Ultimate” is the fifth game in the Super Smash Bros series. The series has been around since 1999 with the release of their first game simply titled “Super Smash Bros” for the Nintendo 64. The series included “Super Smash Bros” from 1999,  “Super Smash Bros Melee” from 2001, “Super Smash Bros Brawl” from 2008 and “Super Smash Bros” for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U from 2014.

This latest Nintendo fighting game has surprised fans with a new single player mode called World of Light. The game mode will put the players in a map with vast opportunity as Kirby, the survivor of a devastating attack that eliminates the players from the character roster. In World of Light, the player must go through the map, challenges and making effective choices to regain other characters.

To accompany the already fan favorite mode is another game mode titled Spirit Board. In this mode, the player will go through challenges to capture “spirits” of varying rarity. To collect these spirits, the player must play through small challenges and unlock the spirits via minigames. The spirits, when captured, give special abilities and power-ups to fighters. There are thought to be 500-1000 spirits in the mode to be captured, allowing for hours of single-player gameplay to be enjoyed.

“Super Smash Bros Ultimate” will feature a whopping 74 character roster to be unlocked in-game. Fans will appreciate many new and old characters appearing in the game including the Piranha Plant from the Super Mario Bros series as a small addition for those who pre-order. The game is coming to the Nintendo Switch and is a perfect party game for up to eight players or solo, to enjoy the game.
