The third and final book from the “Selection Series,” “The One” by Kiera Cass, was published on May 6. The time has finally arrived for the winner to be crowned in a competition where 35 girls are chosen to live in a palace and compete to become the next queen. When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed that she would find herself  between close to the crown and especially not to Prince Maxon’s heart. However as the end of the competition approaches, the threats outside the palace walls grow. America realizes just how much she has to lose and how hard she’ll have to fight for the future she desires

Some pain shouldn’t be wished away so easily. It had to be dealt with, even embraced.

— The Blood of Olympus

“The Blood of Olympus,” the fifth and final book on “The Heroes of Olympus” by Rick Riordan, was published on Oct.7. The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. There is no other option but to head to Athens. They have sacrificed too much already. If antagonist Gaea, the primordial Greek goddess of the Earth, awakens it is game over.

Maybe great, epic romances don’t just happen. We have to make them ourselves.
