Katy Perry gives $1,000 to music program

Pop star Katy Perry and Staples teamed up in a campaign called “Make Roar Happen” which donated $1,000 to 375 Los Angeles Unified School District music teachers to fund creative learning environments for students. Daniel Pearl Magnet High School music teacher Jackie Gorski was one of the recipients.

Perry hopes to inspire young musicians by supporting the teachers that develop their music skills.

Gorski expects to receive the money during the first week of November and should be spent toward the music program before Dec. 31. The money was given to allow teachers to create unique lesson plans for students. Gorski is excited to receive this money and plans on using it to enrich student learning.
