As goose bumps arise from the spooks, chills and temptations of candy, sophomore Patrick Salas celebrates Halloween by being an inmate who escaped from prison.

“Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because you get free candy and people don’t pick on you for eating a lot,” Salas said.

Oct. 31 is the day when students at Daniel Pearl Magnet High School (DPMHS) express their creativity through their Halloween costumes. Students, teachers and faculty showed their Halloween spirit through the hour-long event by enjoying good food, listening to music and seeing the different costumes of each student. In addition to the fun, a Haunted Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) and a photobooth were added for the  enjoyment of the students.

“Yes, Octoberfest is very fun because I like seeing everybody dressed up and celebrating the holiday,” said sophomore Rosemary Vazquez.

Junior Josh Favela is not a big Halloween fan, but celebrates the holiday by wearing a homemade costumes impersonating P.E. teacher Robert Bryan.

“It is actually more fun than your average Fiesta Friday because we, the students, can express ourselves,” Favela said.
