John Green’s novels become spotlight of teenage reading

By Alex Pineda:

John Green, the best selling author has reached stardom amongst a large teenage audience with his most recent novel, “The Fault in Our Stars” (TFIOS).

Although Green’s first novel, “Looking For Alaska,” was released in 2005, it has recently gained large popularity as the audience of TFIOS slowly discovers Green’s other novels, such as “Will Grayson, Will Grayson” and“Paper Towns.”

TFIOS is considered to be Green’s biggest hit by a longshot. In the novel, Hazel Grace, a cancer patient attending a support group, meets the charming and witty Augustus Waters. As they grow closer and experience the roller coaster that comes with their diseases, they discover that life is worth living.

With the aid of social media like Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr, Green’s popularity amongst the teenage audience continues to grow. As the discovery of Green’s novels increase, many favored quotes are posted and “liked” by socializers, resulting in a chain reaction that sparks even more attention to Green’s work.

Adding more into Green’s fan base, TFIOS will go onto the big screen with the help of director Josh Boone. Well known actors will be featured like Shailene Woodley, as Hazel and rising actor Ansel Elgort, as Augustus. The film is set to release June 6, 2014, enough time to read the astounding book before it’s theatrical adaptation.
