Following Valentine’s Day, student musicians are preparing to perform songs such as “Arabella” by Arctic Monkeys and “Crimson and Clover” by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
The Valentine’s Day concert will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) from 7 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 18. Today, students had the opportunity to watch the musicians rehearse during periods four and five.
“I am looking forward to seeing what progress I made on this concert compared to the ones in the past,” said junior Matthew Bersudsky, who is performing “Drift Away” by Dobie Gray. “I’ve been preparing by continuously practicing the song and remembering the lyrics.”
The concert has 18 songs and four poems overall, with nine performances in each act. This year, the concert will have predominantly rock songs from artists like Arctic Monkeys, Paramore and Stone Temple Pilots, as well as from artists of other genres like Rihanna. Songs on the setlist range from Beethoven’s “Für Elise” to “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World.
“I’m excited to play again for a crowd of people, especially because I know a lot of my friends are going to be there,” said sophomore Noah Talamantes, who is playing bass for the concert. “I’m a bit nervous. I just hope I don’t mess up.”
