Enchanted Garden dance will bloom tomorrow night

Leadership students set up decorations for the “Enchanted Garden” dance inside the MPR on Jan. 29.

As the second semester kicks off, students are met with a dance to look forward to on Friday night.

“I am excited for the dance because I am excited to be with my friends,” freshman Nicolette Donovan said. “I hope since this is the second dance of the year that more people are more engaged.”

The “Enchanted Garden” dance will take place in the MPR from 6 to 9 p.m on Jan. 30. Principal Kimberly Figueroa-Oliveira posted an announcement on Schoology stating that all guests will be wanded prior to entering the dance for security measures. Entry tickets are being sold in the library for $10. If students want to purchase a meal catered from In-N-Out, their ticket price rises to $20. If the dance ticket is purchased at the event, the price increases to $15. This upcoming dance is unique in comparison to previous events such as Homecoming because it’s the first dance to take place during the second semester since the “In The Heart of Winter” dance held in 2024.

“It will still be a nice semi-formal dance, but it does not have that connection to Homecoming or some other big event,” Leadership teacher Alain Cruz said. “There’s no Homecoming court so this will be a little more relaxed.”

Kaleigh Tapaoan is this year’s Sports Editor for The Pearl Post. This is her first and last year on staff and she is enthusiastic about learning new journalism skills and being part of a resilient team. Aside from The Pearl Post, she contributes to the school by being the Secretary for the Class of 2026 as well as the ASB Treasurer. She is a Pearl Ambassador and the Pride Club vice president. Outside of school, she is the Birmingham Community Charter High School Swim Team captain and part of the year-round Los Angeles Swim Club. She looks forward to sports journalism and in her free time, she likes to draw, listen to music, go to concerts and hang out with her friends.
