Daniel Pearl Magnet High School (DPMHS) is hosting Pearlapalooza, a festival celebrating the school’s different departments and programs on May 31. The event will consist of live performances from the DPMHS music department from 2 to 5:30 p.m.
“Pearlapalooza is a family event full of competitions and workshops that show off the uniqueness of our programs and our school,” said Colleen Elkins, president of the Parent Teacher Student Association at DPMHS. “It is the celebration of the artistic, creative and intellectual talents of LAUSD middle and high schools.”
Students will be able to participate in interactive learning workshops such as exploring guitar, stop-motion, and broadcasting, as well as compete in photo, math and video competitions. An award ceremony will start at 6 p.m., and at 7 p.m., a screening of the Emmy award-winning television show, “Star Wars Robot Chicken,” episode three will be held, featuring a panel of the show’s creative team.
“If students want to participate in the normal live streaming that we do of the concert, they’ll be able to jump into the camera or switching and be involved that way,” video production teacher Tennessee Reid Norton said.
