Silent auction raises $3,700

Classrooms were welcoming and the walls were adorned with posters.

This is the scene that welcomed visitors to Daniel Pearl Magnet High School’s (DPMHS) Open House on March 21.

Before entering the building, guests had to choose from three food trucks in the parking lot. The food trucks present included Tortas 2 Die 4, Crepe’n Around and Don Chow Tacos.

Inside, there were classroom visits as well as a silent auction put on by the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).

The second annual silent auction had a total of 85 items on tables that lined the center hallway.

Notable donations included an O.P.I. (nail care) basket, a comic book basket and various gift certificates to surrounding attractions (theaters, museums, zoos, etc.).

Many second period classrooms also created baskets.

“The event was a great success and the auction raised almost $3,700,” PTSA President Mary Bower said.

Last year, the silent auction raised $3,000.

would like to note that it should be stated that the total made last year was $3000, not that this year made $3000 more than last year. Thanks!
