The end of the world begins in FX’s “American Horror Story’s” eighth season: “Apocalypse” on September 12 at 9 p.m.

This season will debut the first crossover between seasons with season one,” Murder House” and season three, “Coven,” combining to form “Apocalypse.” The crossover will provide viewers with an intimate look at the Antichrist born at the conclusion of “Murder House” as well as the witches from “Coven” battling its evil.

The story focuses on the end of the world, which is believed to be some sort of nuclear death. Sarah Paulson’s new character, Venable, appears to run an underground bunker for survivors in which most of the characters take shelter. The visible chaos from the end of the apocalypse, along with the distraught survivors, are shown with Venable. The cryptic trailer displays a frantic Billy Eichner, a hectic plane crash and the witches from Coven, including Emma Roberts, Lily Rabe and Kathy Bates who can be heard whispering, “Hail Satan.”

As of right now there is little information available about the plot, but many fans are excited about the reprise of the show’s earlier roles. Fan-favorite Jessica Lange will return as Constance Langdon and a platinum-blonde Evan Peters will return for his eighth season playing both Tate from “Murder House” and a hairstylist. “Murder House’s” Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott and Taissa Farmiga also makes an appearance this season.

New actors include Joan Collins as Evan’s grandmother and Michael Landon from “American Crime Story: The Assassination Of Gianni Versace” as the Antichrist born at the end of “Murder House.”

“American Horror Story” is currently set to return for a ninth season which fuels the fan-theory that each season represents one of the stages of hell. A recent five-year merger with Netflix promises new content from 53-year-old director Ryan Murphy, but whether or not they’re new seasons of AHS is unknown.
