Chocolate milk returns to campus

As you fall in the never-ending cafeteria line, you hope that there will be a carton of chocolate milk waiting for you at the end of that long wait. Sadly, it was removed from all LAUSD schools in 2011. Now, it’s made it’s way back into LAUSD schools making it quite the buzz.

After an unanimous vote among LAUSD Board members, it has been decided to bring the all-time favorite chocolate milk back. The wait is over for Daniel Pearl students as the chocolate milk has been recently placed in the cafeteria menu, where students are able to enjoy it as long as they purchase cafeteria food.

“I feel that it can be a way to compel students to eat meals at the school cafeteria, as well as not skip,” said sophomore Karina Mara. “Since chocolate milk is a beverage a lot of people enjoy, they’ll most likely be drawn to getting a meal while enjoying a sweet, refreshing chocolate milk.”

However, not everyone is satisfied with the return of the chocolate milk. It has low fat, probably LAUSD’s attempt for a healthier milk, which makes it taste less enjoyable than it was five years ago. Still, chocolate milk is better than normal milk, which is wasted every year.

“I was a bit disappointed since I had high expectations,” said sophomore Mariana Sifuentes. “However, it does taste better than regular milk.”

There has been a controversy regarding the chocolate milk, however, since some students seem to think that President Trump is the cause of it’s return. When former President Obama left office, chocolate milk returned. However that is not the case.

“(President) Trump did not bring the chocolate milk back. We’ve been working on this for a couple of years. It’s only back on lunch and not breakfast or snack program,” said cafeteria supervisor Kathy Mrasz.
