Stress relief for admission letter arrivals

While the overwhelming stress of college essays, applications and due dates are finally over, the tension has moved to receiving letters of admission.

  1. Don’t panic. Before the time comes, there are several ways to prepare oneself before receiving one’s admission letters or email.
  2.  Relax. Studies show that about two thirds of college freshman attend their first choice school. Before opening the letter, take a cool moment and breathe.
  3. Celebrate the acceptance letters or
  4. Take some time. It is okay to be disappointed, but don’t dwell on it.
  5. Don’t give up if there’s a waitlist.
  6. Remember, applying to multiple universities is supposed to act as a safety net. Although it’s upsetting and overwhelming with the sad news, it’s okay.
  7. There’s always contacting the office of admissions to file an appeal. There’s always a plan b.
  8. Remember there are other options. These include the schools that you have received acceptance letters from or community college.
