The new ‘Star Wars’ film takes flight

With the seventh installment of the “Star Wars” film series and the first movie in the sequel trilogy, the story seems to never end with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Coming out on Dec. 18, the excitement for the new film is at its all-time high. The film will be presented in RealD 3D and IMAX 3D with tickets selling like crazy. The new and old generation fans have sold out first day viewing at various theaters.

Trailers and teasers have been released causing more excitement for the film, which spectators believe will break records due to the stories well-known storyline. Original characters will return to the big screen such as Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

The trailers have revealed some of the new characters such as droids and the new villain, Kylo Ren. Ren’s new and sword-like lightsaber along with his special mask makes him the newest generation’s Darth Vader.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be the first movie of the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy that will consist of episodes VII – IX. The new trilogy’s plot is centered around Han Solo and his allies taking on a new enemy thirty years after they initially defeated the Galactic Empire.

The new film is produced by Lucasfilm, but will be distributed everywhere by Walt Disney Motion Pictures. George Lucas handed over the right to the “Star Wars” story to Disney, putting the new generation’s entertainment into new hands. It is directed by JJ Abrams, known for his work on “Star Trek”, “Lost” and “Alias.”

With every new movie comes loads of rumors, some are true and others are not. Many fans believed that Jar Jar Binks would make an appearance in the film but movie producer Kathleen Kennedy recently stated that he wouldn’t be present in the film. It was also discovered that the furry Ewoks would also not be seen on the big screen, which caused disappointment among fans.

Episode VIII has already begun its production and will be released in May 2017. The “Star Wars” story continues and in a few years, might reach a permanent ending.
