December is a month full of celebration and joy featuring various events to attend with family and friends to celebrate the holidays.

These are fun events that are either free. Not spending too much money on the holidays is means even more holiday cheer.

An ice skating rink at LA Live is now open until Dec. 31. Decorated Christmas trees stand tall all around the rink, not forgetting the enormous tree in the center of the rink. This rink has a variety events in store, such as Disney On Ice: Frozen and LA King’s Holiday Ice. Admission is free to the rink for all to skate. At 1111 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90015.

The Los Angeles Zoo Lights is a winter wonderland that’s now open until Januar. Enjoy an hour-long self guided tour and explore the zoo, which features light effects and musical water. Meet real reindeer and even take a selfie with Santa Claus. Start the new year by attending the 127th Rose Parade Jan. 1 at 8 a.m. for free. The two-hour event features dozens of flower decorated floats, equestrians performances and marching bands. Tickets can be purchased only for seating as well as to view float displays for $10 from Jan. 1-3.
