Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS was released on Oct. 3 and became the first Super Smash Bros. game on a handheld.

Super Smash Bros. is a fighting series with Nintendo characters. This installment renders the nostalgic characters like Mario and Pikachu in 3D. It sold 2.8 million copies globally in its first week, according to Nintendo. This doesn’t come as a surprise to long time fans who have been waiting for it to release since 2013 when it was announced.

“I like Super Smash Bros. because it is a crossover between my favorite Nintendo characters,”  freshman Sergio Payeras said. “I like this new version because of all the new characters like Greninja from the Pokemon series.”

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS has 51 characters, which is the largest amount so far. Characters like Pac-Man, Megaman, Rosalina and Luma are new to the series and provide unique fighting styles to the game. Many fans are ecstatic for the inclusion of Mega Man who is one of the few third party fighters in Super Smash Bros.

This version is unique because it has a vast variety of game play modes like Smash Run. Smash Run is a mode where the player fights in an expansive land to build his statistics and then fights against his competitors with all of his updated statistics.

The online scene was updated for this new version. Super Smash Bros. used to be a game where people play at home with their friends and family and had an underdeveloped online scene.

This installment features the new For Fun and For Glory online modes. For Fun allows the players to play in a risk-free environment with random people in the For Glory mode allows players to play in a ranked scene with people around the world.

This version provides fans with a unique fighting game that could be taken anywhere. People are going to hear fans utter the famous catchphrase “Settle it in Smash!” for a long time because this game leaves fans fulfilled.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is currently being sold at video game stores or online at Nintendo eShop for $39.99.
