Summer to be filled with blockbuster movies

As everyone prepares for the summer of 2014 they make a list of must-see movies. Movies such as “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” “How to Train a Dragon 2,” “22 Jump Street” and “The Fault In Our Stars” are bound to be on that list.

A movie all kids, or teens with a young heart, are sure to enjoy is “How to Train Your Dragon 2.” The movie is based on five years after the first movie where dragons and vikings became united on the Island of Berk. A new  battle arises to protect the peace after a ice cave filled with dragons and the Dragon Rider is discovered. The animated movie has the voices of well known actors such as Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill and America Ferrera. It is set to release on June 13 and can be viewed in 3-D.

The seventh installment of the battle of mutants, “X- Men: Days of Future Past,” brings back the original and the newer cast in order to change the past to save the future lives of millions of slaughtered mutants. The cast includes well known actors such as Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry and Ellen Page. During the first three days of the movie’s release, “X-Men” made more than $302 million, beating “Avatar” as the largest international opening for Fox. The budget was estimated to be around $200 to $250 million. The movie has proven to be great for both younger and older audiences around the world.

Transformers: Age of Extinction is going to be the fourth movie of the Transformers franchise, set to release on June 27. Although fans are disappointed due to Shia Labeouf’s absence, the movie is still hoped to top the box office. The main role is taken by Mark Wahlberg who plays an automobile mechanic who discovers a Transformer. This causes himself along with his daughter, played by Nicola Peltz, to be the center of trouble between Autobots, Decepticons and the government.

The movie adaption of the number one New York Times Best Seller, “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green, is sure to capture the hearts of teens and adults. The movie has been largely anticipated and raved about since the announcement of the adaption. The book is about Hazel Grace Lancaster, played by Shailene Woodley, and Augustus Waters, played by Ansel Elgort, who are teenage cancer patients that create a friendship and love that surely will capture the hearts of those aware and unaware of the story. The movie is set to release on June 6 with an approximate budget of $12 million.

The largely anticipated sequel to “21 Jump Street” brings back Jenko, played by Channing Tatum, and Schmidt, played by Jonah Hill, on their new undercover assignment as college students in “22 Jump Street.” The comedy is set to release on June 13 and is expected to surpass the first movie’s success made since it has an especially strong supporting cast featuring Dave Franco and Ice Cube.

Whether you plan to see them all or just a few, this year’s summer movies are sure to leave audiences speechless.
