First-hand look at difficulties in getting a driver’s license

Learning how to drive has been an exciting experience for me but it has also proven to be a little challenging.

Over the summer, I signed up for an online course. I took a series of quizzes, then I had to take a final assessment. After I passed the assessment, I received a certificate, which allowed me to take my permit test.

I studied for a couple of weeks and then in August, I took my permit test for the first time. I didn’t pass on my first try because I needed more time to study and I just took it too soon.

I waited a couple of more weeks and took more time to review the driver’s handbook and in September, I took my test again and I passed it. After I passed my permit test, I felt a sense of relief, like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I was really excited to actually start driving.

The next step for me was to take hands on driving lessons. Once I started driving it became a lot easier for me. My lessons ranged from driving in residential neighborhoods to driving in the canyons. It’s difficult to try and understand a handbook when you’ve never experienced what you’re reading first-hand.

Driving is enjoyable for me because I will have the freedom to take myself where I need to go and won’t have to base my plans on whether or not I have a ride. It is also a little difficult for me because it requires a lot of multitasking and concentration. I’ve learned that it’s all about practice. Each step in this process requires a lot of reviewing, whether it’s taking the written test or the hands on driving test.

Now I am practicing and preparing to take my test and get my license soon.
