Baseball season is around the corner and with it the pride, fulfillment and glory that comes with defeating a formidable team.

“This year’s team is very competitive.  They can and will match up against the other stronger teams that they play against in season,” frosoph player Ryan Fleisher said.

During practice the Patriots have been improving their stamina and weak points with mile runs and various passing and pitching drills. The Patriots have strong hitters and a solid defense but they reinforce their strengths through practice.

Tough matches are scheduled for the Birmingham Community Charter High School’s (BCCHS) varsity baseball team.  Harvard West High School is known for having the best pitchers in the country and rival schools Chatsworth and Taft High are known for their  great baseball programs.

“We will do great against our season opponents because we have dedicated players”, varsity second baseman Raymundo Ruvalcaba said

BCCHS’ baseball team dreams to take it a step further by obtaining a title in their division.  Last year in their 2012 spring season the Patriots weren’t as fortunate in making it into the playoffs.  The team lost to University High School by a score of 3-2 but their loss motivates them to improve not only as individual players but as a team.

“I think we should easily be able to get title in our division,” Ruvalcaba said. “ This year we have a better, a lot better, team than last year.”
