Concerts ease boredom during long break

By Contributing Writer Gihan Rachid:

With the school year winding down, students are looking forward to summer vacation. However, most students find themselves bored one week into vacation, but not this year.

This summer some of the hottest bands and divas are heading toward Los Angeles with summer concerts.

The lineup this summer ranges from fresh faced boy bands to punk rock’s favorite event.

One Direction began their fame on the British version of “The X Factor” in 2010. Now after two albums and one European-American tour, the boys have declared their Take Me Home world tour for 2013-2014. The band will be performing for four nights beginning on Aug 7 at Staples.

Justin Timberlake, an ex-boy band member of ‘N Sync, has been hot on the scene ever since his first solo album in 2002. Timberlake released his new third album “The 20/20 Experience” earlier this year and has dominated the music charts.

Timberlake and his friend, Brooklyn based rapper Jay-Z have announced their highly anticipated conjoined tour this summer. The Legends of the Summer stadium tour comes to the Brookside Pavilion in Pasadena on July 28.

This summer also consists of punk/alternative rock euphoria. The Vans Warped Tour is a two-day long event filled with rock’s most favorable bands to take the stage. This year at the Pomona Fairplex, bands such as Forever the Sickest Kids, Falling in Reverse, Bring Me the Horizon and many more will dominate the event. Warped Tour kicks off on June 20-21 at the Fairplex and June 23 in Ventura.

Four words, The Mrs. Carter Show. Probably the hottest ticket to grab right now is Beyoncé’s world tour. Beyoncé announced her tour back in January at the Super Bowl. She will once again reign as the world’s favorite Queen Bey on stage. The Mrs. Carter Show will be Beyoncé’s first tour after her four-year hiatus. The tour has already started in Europe and will come right here at Staples Center on June 28.
