Twitter says goodbye to word limit

New year, new Twitter changes, or so it seems.

According to the Wall Street Journal and Re/code who recently published an article on the multiple people familiar with the company that twitter will be facing new changes.

In July, Twitter expanded its 140 character limit to 10,000 on private messages only. Now, it plans to extend its tweet limit of 140 characters to 10,000 as well. The plan is to grow beyond 300 million users, according to sources working at Twitter Inc. This feature is expected to be officially announced by late March.

“With more characters, people are going to be ranting,” freshman Blanca Osorio said.

Many users fear the gruesome new spamming and long expressed essays that this new feature might bring upon. However, Twitter already has thought ahead and wants to remain the same, or at least appear to. A system is being worked on where users will be able to have the choice of expanding the content if they are interested in reading more.

“It’s basically going to end up turning into Facebook and it’s not going to be hype anymore,” senior Lorenzo Escobar said.
