Six upcoming deadlines for seniors

Along with the excitement that comes with senior year, it is also vital to remember to begin planning for the future. Here are six dates all seniors should be aware of.

SAT

For those who missed the Sept. 1 deadline for the Oct. 1 SAT exam, the late registration date is Sept. 20 through phone and online. Through mail, the late registration date is Sept. 13. The regular deadline for the Nov. 5 exam is Oct. 7, and the late registration dates are Oct. 25 for online and through the phone and Oct. 18 through mail. All late registration applications come with varying fees, so be sure to visit https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org for further information.

SAT Subject

SAT Subject exams are recommended or required depending on the major you’re planning to study. Registration dates for the Oct. 1 and Nov. 5 SAT also apply to the SAT Subject exams. The exam dates vary per subject, visit the CollegeBoard website for specifics.

ACT

A second option to the SAT is the ACT exam. The final day to register for the Oct. 22 exam is Sept. 16. If you miss this date, the late registration dates are between Sept. 17-30. The final ACT exam takes place on Dec. 10, and the final day to sign up is Nov. 4. Late registration for this exam is between Nov. 5-18. Like the SAT, all late registrations come with a fee.

Common Application

The Common Application is used by over 700 colleges and universities nationwide, so dates vary depending on the college you’re considering applying to. The range of most deadlines is between early November and December. Visit www.commonapp.org for deadline specifics.

University of California Application

Applications opened on Aug. 1, but the filing period lasts from Nov. 1-30.

FAFSA

FAFSA will begin accepting submissions on Oct.1 of this year instead of Jan. 1, 2017. This major change will not affect t The final deadline of is June 30, 2017.
