With an unbelievable record of 22 wins and two losses, the swimming Patriots are on the edge of glory.

The Birmingham Community Charter High School boys water polo team are making a historic and amazing season. Everyone in the varsity team is feeling confident; especially set defender senior Anthony Dracic.

“I felt pretty; very confident,” Dracic said. “We won 95 percent of our games and we were number one in the season so we really didn’t worry about anything.”

The Patriots began to have outstanding performances with huge wins over El Camino Real, San Pedro, Taft and Panorama High School. With just one more win to become the California Interscholastic Federation  LACS champions, they were suddenly beaten by Palisades High School in the championship final. The Patriots fought a tough game but suffered a close 11-9 defeat.

“Honestly, I felt alright about the loss because we played a lot better than them but the referee,” Dracic said. “We were a better team than them so it was alright. I have no regrets about it.”

The boys water polo team have their heads held high and they are now focusing on the upcoming season and are hoping to become CIF LACS champions for the 2015-2016 year.
