The girls varsity lacrosse team performed flawlessly this season which lead to a victorious win for the second year in a row in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) city championships.

Birmingham Community Charter High School girls varsity lacrosse team takes home yet another trophy ring after their triumphant win in California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) city championships. The team has successfully defended their championship title two years in a row.

The girls defeated the Palisades Dolphins in a triumphant 11-1 victory on May 16.

“The biggest challenge was knowing that we had to defend our title,” senior Ana Perez said.

The girls trained hard all season long to meet this years expectations. The few seniors who were left on the team had to push themselves even harder to give a cheerful and memorable farewell. Through all the long practices, the girls were able to deliver a great performance in the end and take home their trophy rings.

“There was more pressure on the team this year because we had to defend our title but we worked on perfecting our skills and plays,” junior April Serrano said.

The girls had to work on building the team’s chemistry since this year it was composed of mostly juniors. The team even had the opportunity to receive training from a UCLA player and put into practice useful tips and strategies.

“It took the team longer but we were able to develop the chemistry needed in order to work together,” Perez said.
